Author Guidelines


Manuscripts must be original research articles making sufficient new contributions to film, photography, television, and new media. Authors are asked to submit papers electronically using the IMAJI Journal submission procedure: film, photography, television, and new media. The relevant author must also provide a statement that the manuscript is not being considered for publication elsewhere. The editor will ignore posts that don't follow this procedure.


Title. The title of the article should be short, clear and informative, no more than 12-15 words.

Author and institution name. The author's name must be accompanied by the author's institution and email address. For joint papers, one of the authors is notified to the relevant author.

Abstract and keywords. Abstract must be less than 150-200 words. Please provide abstracts in English and Indonesian versions. Keywords should consist of 3 to 5 words or phrases, written alphabetically.

Introduction. This section explains the background of the research, the issues raised and the purpose of making the script. What is important also must show the significance and novelty of the research. (15-20% of the total length of the article).

Discussion. This section describes analysis tools that contain descriptions, data collection techniques, data analysis and data analysis exposure (40 - 60% of the total length of the article).

Conclusion. This section concludes and provides research findings in the form of answers to research questions or in the form of digest results of the discussion.

Bibliography. This section contains sources that are cited, and all sources that are cited must be listed in the list of references. This list of references is at least 80% in the form of literature published in the last 10 years. Reference must be the primary source (articles, books, research reports or other types of publications referenced in the body of the manuscript.


Manuscripts are made in A4 paper format (double-sided, and single line spacing). New paragraphs must start 0.5 mm from the left margin, using Times-New-Romans font size 12.

Manuscripts are written in Indonesian or English.

Manuscripts must be 10 to 25 pages (3000-6000 words).

1.5 and 0.8 inch top and bottom margins.

Title is written in capital letters only in the first word or special name (example: location name), font size 14, middle position.

Subtitles are written in the UPPERCASE BOLD style, and are 11 fonts, starting from the left margin.

Subtitles, (if any), are written in capital letters only in the first word or special name. Must start from the left margin.

Subtitles, (if any), are written in capital letters only at the beginning of each word except for conjunctions, all in italics. Must start from the left margin.

References must be from publications of the last ten years (> 80%), except for key references (80%). Referrals to any textbook should be minimized (<20%).


Citation in the body of the text must use the family name and the page cited. Example:

What is meant by film theory is ... ((Bordwell 5).

Authors are advised to use Mendeley Reference software.


The manuscript is expected to include about 10 - 20 major and current references to emphasize a high-quality contribution to knowledge development. Citations and references must follow MLA (Modern Language Association of America) style. Reference should include only works cited in the text of the manuscript. Consulting the MLA style manual ( is highly recommended to complete manuscript submissions. Please use the reference tool (Mendeley)!

Submitting a short bio containing your full name, academic degree, institution, telephone / mobile number, etc. must be included in the data column when registering online on our website submission.


Taking into account the results of the peer-reviewing process, the decision regarding the acceptance of each manuscript for publication will be notified to the authors via our website and email system in the following alternative conclusions:

Received without revision, or

Received with minor revisions, or

Received with major revisions, or



The copyright of the article received will be delegated to the journal as the journal publisher. Copyright includes the right to publish articles in various forms (including reprints). The journal has publishing rights to the published articles.

Authors are allowed to distribute articles that have been published by sharing the link / DOI of the article in the journal. Authors are permitted to use their articles for legal purposes as deemed necessary without the written permission of the journal upon notification of the journal's initial publication.
