Menelaah Proses Pembuatan Film Sekarang: Hilangnya Budaya Intip

Abstract

The concept of “taking a peek” is a specific verb that describes a filmmaking process—where a director of photography or camera operator uses the camera’s viewfinder to concentrate on the image they are trying to capture. This has given birth to “voyeur culture”, which is a terminology that is associated with this process. However, when digital technology comes to replace the analogue film technology, one of the consequences is the disappearance of this culture. The emergence of monitor on digital camera becomes more dominant and replaces the viewfinder. “Voyeur culture” is transforming into “watching culture”. Is there any meaning that disappear along with the shift from the use of viewfinder to the use of monitor in filmmaking process?
