Abstract

This paper aims to explain the position of ideas and research in the filmmaking, especially documentary. Background of this writing because there are still many errors of thoughts about research when associated with the idea in filmmaking. Qualitative research method is the method chosen to discuss this problem. Data is collected through observation, interviews, and literature study. Qualitative data analysis technique is used to discuss the problem. The result of the analysis indicates that there are errors of thought about research related to the idea of filmmaking, especially documentary.
